To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the dedication of the present St Helen’s Church, Mgr. John Furnival celebrated Mass on Thursday 29th January, at 7 pm, with Fr. Albert Shaw, Fr. Martin Caddell Fr. Brendan Rice and Fr. Roy Cooper concelebrating, and assisted by Deacon Ted Douglas. Mgr. John spoke about the spirit and vision of the Priests and parishioners beforehand by building a Church at the heart of their Parish community, and realised in the present day St. Helen’s Church. The Parish Centre is seemingly ‘wrapped’ around the Church, and is very much at the heart of the Parish community, as well as being used by the wider local community. With God’s grace this spirit and vision will be kept alive and well and St. Helen’s will continue bearing Christian witness in the years to come.
Refreshments were served in the Parish Centre afterwards.
